田中將大首度進行投打模擬對決，「神之子」的極品指叉球，讓首位面對的打者Austin Romine直說：「我很高興他是我的隊友。」

以7年1.55億美元加盟洋基的田中，大家都在等著看，到底他的指叉球有多神，打者分別是捕手Romine、外野手Ramon Flores、Antoan Richardson以及Adonis Garcia。

「哇嗚…我很高興他是我隊友，」Romine看了5球、1球未揮，還在一記變化球進壘時發出驚呼，還詢問蹲捕的Brian McCann是什麼球種，「我從沒看過球會那樣跑，這很特別。」

田中表示，這是他去年在日本職棒總冠軍賽第7戰後首度投球，他僅用7分力，總教練Joe Girardi表示：「他看起來不錯，我很高興我們所見到的，我知道這麼說還太早，但那就是你想看到的。」

「能夠和Brian搭配很棒，但所有捕手對我來都是第一次，所以很期待和每位捕手的搭配。」田中在這次模擬對決投了25球。
