現年70歲的霍金表示人腦可能獨立於人體存在，並可被拷貝到電腦中。

據外媒報導，現年72歲的物理學家史蒂芬霍金近日提出設想，認為人的大腦可能獨立於人體存在，並可複製拷貝至電腦裡。
據網易報導，在一部關於他的紀錄片的首映式上，霍金提到了這種可能性，他表示，大腦可能如同程式一般，可被複製拷貝到電腦裡面，『我認為，大腦就像一個電腦程式，所以理論上來講是可以將大腦拷貝到電腦上的，而這也許可以給長生提供另一種可能』，但他同時也表示目前的技術並不能實現這一目標。
據報導，這部關於霍金的紀錄片除回顧了霍金在牛津大學和劍橋大學的求學生涯外，還採訪了霍金的家人，以勾勒霍金的童年生活。此外，霍金的自傳《我的簡史》也已於今(2013)年9月發行。
稍早前，霍金曾發表了自己對安樂死的支持，他說：『我認為那些遭受著無法治癒的疾病所折磨的人，可以按照自己的意願選擇結束生命，而那些幫助他們的人不應該受到指控。但這應該有一條警戒線，即這些人是真心想要尋求結束自己的生命，並且他們沒有受到來自外界的壓力，且他們了解並同意這種行為，如同我這樣。』
霍金日前表達了自己對有末期疾病的患者選擇安樂死的支持。
